Dual credit: Absolutely. Dual credit classes are official �������� courses. They follow a syllabus approved by �������� department chairs, are taught by qualified instructors approved by the college, and meet the same academic standards as classes offered on campus.

Dual enrollment: Yes. You�ll take these courses directly through ��������. They are taught by college faculty and you'll attend class alongside other college students.

Articulated credit: These are high school courses that may translate into college credit. The credit will appear on your �������� transcript with a "T." This credit can be applied toward a certificate or associate degree at ��������, helping you save time and money. However, articulated credit is not transferable to other colleges or universities.

Dual credit: No. These courses are tuition-free! �������� currently covers the cost. Materials, including textbooks, are provided by your high school.

Dual enrollment: Yes. You are responsible for tuition and fees, as well as additional course materials like textbooks and lab supplies needed for the class.

Articulation credit: No. These are high school courses approved for �������� college credit at no cost to you.

Dual credit is available in two key areas:

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Courses
These courses are designed for students who want to build real-world skills in hands-on, high-demand fields like automotive technology, graphic design, nursing assistant, welding and more.

General Education (GECC) Courses
These are academic, college-level classes that count toward the first two years of a bachelor�s degree. Subjects include English, world languages, psychology, sociology and more.

Dual credit:

• meet course prerequisites (if applicable)
• register for a dual credit course at your high school

Dual enrollment: You�ll need to be admitted to �������� and complete the onboarding process. The steps may vary depending on your age. Students under 16 years typically have a few additional requirements.

Articulated credit: If your high school allows you to take the course, you may be eligible for articulated credit at ��������, as long as you

• complete both semesters of the course
• earn a grade of B or better
• plan to attend ��������
• submit the Articulated Credit Request Form within three years

Dual credit: You�re enrolled as a non-degree-seeking student at ��������. The credit you earn is added to your official college transcript.

Dual enrollment: You�re enrolled as either a non-degree or degree-seeking student at �������� and take your class on campus or online, alongside other college students.

Articulated credit: You remain a high school student. If you request the credit within three years, it appears on your �������� transcript as a �T� and does not count toward your college GPA.

Dual credit and dual enrollment: Yes, these credits often can be transferred to other colleges or universities and applied toward a certificate or degree. However, each school decides how it will accept transfer credit, so it is important to check with the college or university you plan to attend to see how your credits will apply.

Articulated credit: No. Your credits only count at ��������.

Before requesting an official �������� transcript, check your unofficial transcript to make sure grades have been posted for all of the courses you took.

When you see your grades are posted, you can order an official transcript. The cost of an official transcript is $10.

�������� Dual Credit Withdrawal Procedures

Updated: Fall 2025

Students may withdraw themselves from dual credit courses at the �������� at any time. Instructors may withdraw a student either on the midterm roster or on the final grade roster. If a student is withdrawn (by student or instructor request) on the midterm roster or before, the class will not show up on the student�s transcript. If a student is withdrawn after the midterm roster is submitted, the class and grade (most likely a W, WS, or WF) will appear on the student�s transcript. A grade of W or WS is not calculated in a student�s grade point average. However, it may impact financial aid. One of the ways students remain eligible for financial aid is by successfully completing at least 67% of all cumulative credit hours. Withdrawals are included in hours attempted but not successfully completed.

These procedures are communicated to high school partners each year through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and with their dual credit timelines. These procedures are communicated to students on their Dual Credit Enrollment Request Forms and cover letter. These procedures were developed in accordance with the Illinois State Dual Credit Quality Act:

(b) Institutions may adopt policies to protect the academic standing of students who are not successful in dual credit courses, including, but not limited to, options for (i) late withdrawal from a course, or (ii) taking the course on a pass-fail basis, or both. All institutional policies relating to the academic standing of students enrolled in dual credit courses or the transfer of credit for dual credit courses must be made publicly available by the postsecondary institution and provided to each student enrolled in dual credit courses offered by that postsecondary institution.
