Why study Music with us?

We design your courses with a focused blend of theory, ear training, sight singing and music history. At the same time, you maximize work-ready skills such as careful listening, critical thinking and creative communication�all while celebrating your immense love of music.

You focus on vocal or instrumental music. We offer private lessons in piano, voice, wind instruments, guitar, bass or percussion�so you can refine your skills in the music you�re most passionate about.

We help you maximize your musical abilities with one-on-one applied music lessons at ��. Our music teachers are also professional performers who are passionate about helping you master your craft.

Your instructors know you by name�not number. At ��, the instructors are teachers first, and researchers second. They dedicate their careers to helping you learn and understand music.

You learn from the same material studied at 4-year schools, while you receive the personal attention and feedback possible only in small class sizes.
Take your talent to the stage at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. The Center features three modern performance spaces equipped to showcase professional touring events and concerts, as well as our student music, dance and theatre performances and productions.
When you�re a music major, performing in front of people is just another day at the office. At ��, you�ll have plenty of opportunities to showcase your talents. When you participate in ensembles, you learn by observing, working with and emulating group artists. We offer various for-credit choral and instrumental group options, depending on your focus.

Transfer degree programs are built around general education classes that lead to an associate degree designed to transfer to a 4-year school. �� participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) to ensure that approved courses will transfer to other participating colleges and universities. Transfer degrees typically take 2 years of full-time enrollment to complete.
